Membership

 

If you would like to join the 9th SS Hohenstaufen Living History group, we do have requirements of style, dress, and knowledge. We will help you in all these areas if needed!

 

1. $10 annual membership fee

2. Three events probationary period, after which you will earn the prestige "Hohenstaufen" cuff title

3. Unless otherwise directed, all new members will enter the unit at the rank of Schutze

4. Following your probationary period, new members may be awarded the Ost Front ribbon based on prior military experience

5. New members MUST have full uniform by their first event and minimum essential equipment and weapons will be required within 6 months (See required equipment at bottom of page)

6. The purpose of a living history group is to learn. We are a unit that will learn together or not at all, to fight together or not at all

 

 

 

Appearance and Conduct

 

You will be in the public eye and you will be judged by your appearance and conduct which will ultimately reflect upon the public image and professional reputation of the unit.

 

1. Appropriate haircut and shave is required when wearing the uniform

2. Military bearing, as well as proper customs and courtesies, are essential during public events

3. Don't embarrass yourself, the unit and most importantly -  the veterans of whom we portray. This is MY unit, this is YOUR unit, this is OUR unit; together our actions will create a constructive and professional atmosphere as well as a positive public image

 

Obtaining Rank and Awards

 

1. All members automatically obtain the rank of Schutze. Subsequent rank must be obtained through specified years of active participation within the unit.

a) Oberschutze must be obtained by 1.5 year of active participation

b) Sturmmann must be obtained by 3.5 years of active participation

c) Further promotion is based upon the unit leaders' decision as well as outlined in the unit manual

2. Awards must be obtained by active participation with the unit and/or upon SPECIAL acts of hard work and dedication on behalf of 9th SS Hohenstaufen
